Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday we had Meg, Ed, Scarlett and Harry over for an Easter egg hunt and egg-dying. We had them over last year as well, so it is becoming a bit of a tradition.

The Easter bunny left lots of eggs in the front yard for the kids to hunt. Ben and Scarlett were all over it. Harry (just 14 months) was just happy to be outside with the kids. Olivia slept through the entire thing inside.

Here is a quick video of the excitement:

Olivia missed out on the egg hunt, but she did sport her bunny pants!

After the egg hunt and dinner, we dyed eggs. It all went pretty well except when Ben thought the dye tablets were candy and put one in his mouth. Ick. His tongue was a lovely shade of pink that night.

Happy Easter!

Liv's Room

I haven't posted pictures of Ben's big boy room (even though he switched rooms several months ago) or Liv's room because, sadly, neither room is done. Both still need curtains and art and such. But here are a few pictures of Liv's room, since we were hanging out in there the other day and Mike snapped a few shots.

Here Liv is in her crib. This is totally posed. She doesn't sleep in here; she sleeps in a pack n play in our room. But I put her in there just to see how she looked.

I tried very hard to use things I had on hand and not spend a lot of money in Liv's room. Mike's mom painted the room for us. I forget the color but it is a soft slightly peachy pink. The crib was Ben's (we got him a big boy bed rather than converting the crib to a toddler bed). My friend Lesli (who is very crafty and talented) made the crib skirt, floral pillow covers and blanket, so I just had to pay for the fabric. The bird pillow cover is from Etsy. The sheets were a clearance find at Target.

Mom donated the dresser. She's had it forever and hauled it up and painted it for us. I love that it is "vintage" and feminine. Mom painted the inside of the dresser raspberry. The color looks a little red in pictures (and in real life too, but more so in pics). I chose the paint so it is my fault, but with all the clothes filling the drawers, you barely see the paint anyway. The changing pad and basket I already had. I just bought the changing pad cover. The chair we also owned too.

Here is Liv fresh from the bath, mohawk and all.

As I was getting Liv dressed after her bath, Ben came in, started looking around, and discovered Liv had some books he'd never read (gifts from a friend), so we all cuddled up in the chair to read. You can see in this pic that we definitely need curtains. The bird art print is another Etsy find. That rug was a steal on rugsusa.com but the gray looks a bit weird with the crib skirt. I love the rug but am still debating moving it to another room and getting something else for this space. The gray/white just clashes with the chair/fabric. But the room is so mix n match, maybe it doesn't matter. I am going to find curtains first and see if they help tie it all together. If anyone knows of any cute curtains that would work in here, let me know. I think a stripe would be nice to offset all the floral I've got going on.

I like how it looks like Liv is listening carefully to Ben as he "reads" us this book.

I'll be back soon (hopefully) with more/better pictures as I finish up her room.

Also, I hung new pictures in the hall outside Liv's room -- one of her cute chubby face and the other of Ben and Liv. The other two were already there but I've never shown them before.

Olivia's Second Week

Olivia's second weekend, we had a fun visit from Uncle Brad and Aunt Denise.

While they were visiting, Ben enjoyed one of his favorite things -- going "up so high" as he calls it.

And he tried on Denise's boots. Perfect fit, I'd say.

After they left, Mike was relaxing and Ben decided to join him. He got himself all situated and then told me to cover him up. Looks cozy.

Sunday evening, Lesli and her daughter Adelaide stopped by. Ben and Adelaide had a great time playing and Olivia got some more cuddles.

It was a busy but fun weekend. Now Grammy and Grampy are back in Texas, Mike is at work, and I'm settling into a new routine. So far, so good.

Olivia's First Week

Here are some random moments from Olivia's first week/weekend at home.

Olivia spent a lot of time like this. Grammy likes to hold Olivia as much as Olivia likes to be held -- it was a win-win. Grammy is also our go-to burper. Olivia is a tough one to get a burp out of, but Grammy has the special touch apparently.

Her first tummy time. She was trying hard to scoot those knees and move. Then she was just tuckered out.

She was not such a fan of her first "bath." I just used a wash cloth to clean her up. She liked that part but was not happy when I stopped.

She often will open up just one eye. Bill calls her Popeye and I always think pirate.

Saturday night we decided to go out to dinner, just to get out of the house. Ben chose Buffalo Wild Wings. He was in an unusually good mood, ate his entire dinner, never whined or complained or fussed, and sat on my lap cuddling for 10 minutes before our food arrived. It was a great dinner! Olivia slept through the entire thing, and then woke up hungry right after we left.

Over the weekend, Meg, Ed, Scarlett and Harry visited us. Ben was so excited about seeing Scarlett. Scarlett loved baby Olivia. She kept saying "she's so cute." She's pretty cute herself.

It was a great first week! I'll be back with week 2 pictures soon.

Olivia's Birthday

We arrived at Delnor Hospital at 7:40ish a.m. on Thursday 3/7 for my scheduled C-section. After being pumped full of fluid and prepped and learning that I was actually having contractions about 2 minutes apart, though I barely felt them, at around 10:30 they finally wheeled me in for my surgery. Here is Mike ready to assist, and me, ready to have this baby.

My first time seeing Olivia!

Olivia meets Gammy for the first time!

Sleeping. Little did we know she'd spend a LOT of time this way.

Cuddling with mama.

Meeting big brother Ben.

Meeting Nana.

Snuggling with Dad.

Meeting Papa.

Getting her first bottle (I think it was her first; it's all a blur). She was losing too much weight so they had me pump to supplement breast feeding.

Snoozing again.

Chilling with Gammy and Gampy.
