Olivia's Second Week

Olivia's second weekend, we had a fun visit from Uncle Brad and Aunt Denise.

While they were visiting, Ben enjoyed one of his favorite things -- going "up so high" as he calls it.

And he tried on Denise's boots. Perfect fit, I'd say.

After they left, Mike was relaxing and Ben decided to join him. He got himself all situated and then told me to cover him up. Looks cozy.

Sunday evening, Lesli and her daughter Adelaide stopped by. Ben and Adelaide had a great time playing and Olivia got some more cuddles.

It was a busy but fun weekend. Now Grammy and Grampy are back in Texas, Mike is at work, and I'm settling into a new routine. So far, so good.

Olivia's First Week

Here are some random moments from Olivia's first week/weekend at home.

Olivia spent a lot of time like this. Grammy likes to hold Olivia as much as Olivia likes to be held -- it was a win-win. Grammy is also our go-to burper. Olivia is a tough one to get a burp out of, but Grammy has the special touch apparently.

Her first tummy time. She was trying hard to scoot those knees and move. Then she was just tuckered out.

She was not such a fan of her first "bath." I just used a wash cloth to clean her up. She liked that part but was not happy when I stopped.

She often will open up just one eye. Bill calls her Popeye and I always think pirate.

Saturday night we decided to go out to dinner, just to get out of the house. Ben chose Buffalo Wild Wings. He was in an unusually good mood, ate his entire dinner, never whined or complained or fussed, and sat on my lap cuddling for 10 minutes before our food arrived. It was a great dinner! Olivia slept through the entire thing, and then woke up hungry right after we left.

Over the weekend, Meg, Ed, Scarlett and Harry visited us. Ben was so excited about seeing Scarlett. Scarlett loved baby Olivia. She kept saying "she's so cute." She's pretty cute herself.

It was a great first week! I'll be back with week 2 pictures soon.

Olivia's Birthday

We arrived at Delnor Hospital at 7:40ish a.m. on Thursday 3/7 for my scheduled C-section. After being pumped full of fluid and prepped and learning that I was actually having contractions about 2 minutes apart, though I barely felt them, at around 10:30 they finally wheeled me in for my surgery. Here is Mike ready to assist, and me, ready to have this baby.

My first time seeing Olivia!

Olivia meets Gammy for the first time!

Sleeping. Little did we know she'd spend a LOT of time this way.

Cuddling with mama.

Meeting big brother Ben.

Meeting Nana.

Snuggling with Dad.

Meeting Papa.

Getting her first bottle (I think it was her first; it's all a blur). She was losing too much weight so they had me pump to supplement breast feeding.

Snoozing again.

Chilling with Gammy and Gampy.

New Arrival

I changed the blog name to "The Wild Cards" now that baby #2 is finally here! Olivia Lula arrived on 3/7/13 at 11:01 a.m. weighing 8 lbs 3 oz and 20.5 inches long.

She is sweet, calm, and mellow. She sleeps very well for a newborn and rarely cries, except when she is hungry or getting her diaper changed. We are working on the breast feeding -- neither of us are great at it. She tends to fall asleep and then wake up hungry a little later. Or she won't latch on for a good while, which is a bit annoying, not to mention painful, for Mom.

Ben is sometimes the sweetest brother ever and sometimes a beast. The other day she was crying the car and he patted her car seat and told her "It's okay baby sister. I'll protect you." But then he'll sometimes purposely make noise while she is sleeping to wake her or something like that. We are all adjusting...

Here are some professional pics by Bella Baby, taken at the hospital.

Welcome to this crazy family Livvie Lu!
